With over eight years of hosting under his belt, it is only fair to say that noontime show “It’s Showtime” wouldn’t be complete without Vice Ganda. It’s amazing how, in spite of his long career, the comedian has never run out of funny jokes, witty comebacks, and sarcastic one-liners. While his stand-up routines have been scrutinized by critics countless times, Kapamilya viewers just can’t get enough of the host.
Recently, the comedian demonstrated his exceptional sense humor once more in an episode of “It’s Showtime”. During the “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” segment, Vice and co-host Jhong Hilario were chatting with a contestant when they came to the subject of rice cooking. It was such a mundane topic for a laugh, but the comedian, of course, found a way to make it amusing for the audience.
It started with Vice asking if the girl knew how to cook rice, to which the contestant said yes. Then the two hosts talked about the process of measuring rice-to-water ratio using the finger, or popularly called as the “first knuckle method”. But, as he did so, the comedian put out three fingers as, according to him, it was much easier instead of using only one. At this point, everyone in the studio has already burst out laughing.
Next, “The Revenger Squad” star pointed out the cons of using a rice cooker, in spite of its convenience. He said that the rice usually turns out soggy, and that the whole process seems boring compared to the regular stove. Vice then made the three-finger gesture again, which sent everyone to laughter including his co-host.
It would seem like Vice really knows his chores, as he also told of the process of lifting the pot lid for the water to evaporate once it boiled. He also mentioned the trick of stabbing the rice with a toothpick for the water to seep. Once again, the comedian did the three-finger gesture, but this time, he followed it with a moan after, as if he got burned from the hot water. This prompted Jhong to chuckle and say:
“Nagsasaing ka ba o nagpi-prito?”
Then the comedian turned to the contestant to ask her which dish she likes to cook often, with the latter answering tinola. Vice saw this as a moment to crack a joke and said:
“Anong mas mahalaga sa tinola, sayote or manok? Kasi kung wala ka namang manok, para magkalaman, ilagay mo na lang yung daliri mo. ‘Teka, ba’t puro sabaw?’ ‘Oy, may laman ‘yan. ‘Nasaan?’ ‘Ayan oh.'”
Afterwards, he did the three-finger sign, which sent everyone in the studio into another howls of laughter!
Meanwhile, the Kapamilya Trending channel was quick to upload the bit on Youtube. Said video has earned over 200,000 view, with many finding the joke amusing. However, some commentators also took note that the punchline had a double meaning.
